MATA ORTIZ POTTERY

Technically and aesthetically, Casas Grandes pottery equals or surpasses the work of the Indian potters of the American Southwest. It is made with clay from the mountains high above the village of Mata Ortiz, painted with human hairbrushes and natural pigments (minerals and roots of plants). It is hand-formed, without the use of a potter's wheel, and is dung fired.

It is hand made and signed by Antonso Sandoval, and stands ~9-3/8" tall, ~7" wide and the circumference is ~26-1/4" with a ~4" opening.

Hopi Pot by Clinton Polacca

Pot measures 7-1/4" tall, 6" wide and is 18-3/4" in Circumference (around its widest point). 
This beautiful Hopi Pot is hand coiled, pit fired, and painted with natural paints by Artist Clinton Polacca “Nampeyo”. Clinton Polacca “Nampeyo” was born in 1958.  He is a part of the Corn and Kachina Clans of the Hopi Tribe. Clinton was taught the art of making pottery by his grandmother Fannie Polacca Nampeyo. He started making pottery in the mid 1970’s.  Clinton uses natural materials for his paints and fires them traditionally outdoors.

Signed by the Mata Ortiz artist Juan Mora on the bottom. It stands 4-1/4" tall, 5-1/2" wide, with a 17-1/2" circumference, and a 1-3/4" opening.
